About Ceduna Area School

Ceduna Area School has over five hundred students. Almost 25% of them are Aboriginal students.

Ceduna is 800 kms north/west from Adelaide and is situated on Murat Bay. Ceduna is an ideal place for sailing, surfing and angling enthusiasts. The famous left-hand surfing spot of Cactus is only an hour's drive west, and Ceduna and Penong are home to many surfing families.

The Murat Bay District consists of the small rural communities of Smoky Bay, Penong, Koonibba, Mudamuckla, Charra, Denial Bay and the two townships of Ceduna and Thevenard. There is an Aboriginal population of about 24%, consisting mainly of the local Wirangu and Kukuda people and the Anangu people from Yalata.

The Ceduna Area School motto is Respect, Communication and Relationships.

There is a SAASTA program operating in this school that supports young Aboriginal people to complete their SACE. Students study Integrated Learning – Power Cup, Maths, English and Physical Education as part of their SAASTA program.

In 2010 there will be a Ceduna Boys and a Girls team and it is their third year of involvement in the Power Cup. The Ceduna Boys team made the Grand Final of the Power Cup in 2008.
