Warriappendi School & Para Hills High School - Footy fever hits Warriappendi
Over the last few weeks, footy fever has affected almost every student! During every break, our enclosed basketball court is full of students kicking goals and practicing deadly moves.
This comes after a slow start in Term 1 where footy seemed a long way off and there were lots of other things happening in our school. We didn't have any time on our timetable for the Power Cup and it was hard to get started. But that has all changed now!
We did put a lot of time and effort into our guernsey design, however. There were lots of good designs and in the end we had a meeting where all the designs were put on display and everyone had a vote for the one they liked the best. Craig Pinkie's traditional design with a boomerang as the main feature was the winner and was sent into the organisers.
This term we have had regular training times for both the boys and the girls teams. We have tried to have some joint training sessions with Para Hills High School but at this stage we have only had one. We do have two more joint sessions planned for the last two weeks which is important because we don't really know our own team mates very well at this stage.
Our team will be the last one to have their Port Power Coaching Clinic. This will be on Friday 4th June. It would have been good to have this earlier so that we could learn some new skills but we realise they have been busy going to all the schools in the Power Cup.
The Power Cup is now only two weeks away. After a couple more training sessions and a Power Coaching Clinic we reckon we will be ready to go to Alberton and win!
