About Port Lincoln High School

Port Lincoln is a coastal city located on the south eastern point of Eyre Peninsula with a total population of approximately 14,000 people.

The population of the Indigenous people living in Port Lincoln is approximately 1200 people, a large percentage of the Wangka Wilurrara Regional Indigenous population.

Port Lincoln High School has nearly 750 students - approximately 90 are indigenous.

Port Lincoln High has a number of specialist programs such as EPSA (Eyre Peninsula Sporting Academy) and Doorways to Construction, VET opportunities and is involved in a number of sporting competitions throughout the year.

Port Lincoln High has a focus on Fairness, Respect, Safety, Responsibility & Success.

There is a SAASTA program operating in this school that supports young Aboriginal people to complete their SACE. Students study Integrated Learning – Power Cup, Integrated Learning - Austswim and Certificate II in Community Recreation as part of their SAASTA program.

In 2010 there will be a Port Lincoln Boys and a Girls team and it is their 3rdyear of involvement in the Power Cup.

Port Lincoln Boys team defeated the Wiltja Boys in the 2009 Grand Final of the Power Cup.

Team Rules

  1. Respect ourselves, each other, the officials and the opposition.
  2. Do not fight.
  3. No Racism, sexism or any other discrimination.
  4. Encourage and support team mates during training and playing.
  5. Respect the umpires decisions.
  6. Do not swear at or about anyone while playing.
  7. No abusive, dirty or demeaning sledging.
  8. Offer advice rather than criticism to team mates.
  9. Be on time to training and team meetings.
  10. Be organised and have what you need.
  11. Follow instructions from coaches and mentors.
  12. No dirty take outs or unfair play.
  13. Always shake your opponent's hand before and after a match.

Students at Port Lincoln High School have been visited by some Port Adelaide legends to help kick-start their 2010 Aboriginal Power Cup (APC) campaign.
