Le Fevre High School - APC welcomes LeFevre HS

The Aboriginal Power Cup is growing even bigger in 2010, with three new schools joining in the fun. LeFevre High School is one of those schools and they were lucky enough to be visited by a couple of Port Adelaide legends in Russell Ebert and Gavin Wanganeen.

Whilst the school can only field a boy’s team for this year’s event, they are eager to have their girls take the field in 2011. The boys’ level of enthusiasm will go along way to making up for the absence of the girls. They are determined to make their presence felt during this year’s APC, both in the classroom and on the footy field.

Russell and Gavin lead a discussion on goal-setting and its importance not only during the APC, but in life during and after high school. The boys were surprised to hear about the importance of career goals, even for footy superstars, as careers in football don’t last forever.

The discussion then progressed to career pathways. Russell and Gavin were impressed with the ambition shown throughout the group, and the variety of career pathways that are currently being considered by these LeFevre students. The feedback given to PAFC staff by the boys will help to ensure the careers expo at this year’s APC will have much to offer every student who visits Alberton Oval.

The boys then took to the school oval where they were shown a few helpful drills to help them with their training. Given that the majority of the boys are currently playing football with the Port Adelaide Magpies junior sides, they didn’t need much help though – look out for these boys come game time!
