Wiltja Program - Wiltja Learning & Leadership
This term in week 3 students from the Wiltja Program and Windsor Gardens Vocational College participated in a Leadership training day. The purpose was to help us understand what leadership is and what things make someone a good leader.
The training day was held at Windsor Gardens Vocational College and the day was made up of some group activities held in the classrooms and outdoor training drills. These tasks got us to think about people in our communities who are leading us in a positive direction and the attributeswhich help them to do this successfully.
During the day, different leaders such as Russell Ebert, Gavan Wanganeen, Aaron Tuckfield and Amy Rogerson gave us an understanding of where they came from and how they developed into strong positive role models.
Travis Dodd, a Wiltja year 12 student said "I thought that the whole leadership program was good. We learnt what we need to do to become strong leaders and make friends as well."
Another part of the day was to design, plan and teach a football drill to the whole group. This activity taught us good organisation, communication and time management skills.
Adele McCallum, a year 11 student from Wiltja stated "I think the day was really good because it helped us all to be prepared for the Power Cup Competition."
The day was enjoyed by everyone who participated and it has increased the motivation and enthusiasm in preparation for the big game day which is to be held at Alberton Oval on the 28th and 29th of August.
